Covington, In. - J. Roy Duncan, 83, of Covington, died at 8:35 a.m. today (Jan 30, 1970) at Tall Trees Nursing hOme in Covington, where he had been a patient since March 1969. He had been in poor health the past eight years. Mr. Duncan was born Feb. 20, 1886, in Indiana, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Duncan. A resident of Covington most of his life, he married the former Ida May Hickman, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Barker of Veedersburg Route 2; two step-sons, John Hayden of Covington, LaVon Baer of Myraloma, Calif., two half-sisters, Mrs. Rosie Brown of Veedersburg, Mrs. Verna Garner of Marion' a half-brother, Arthur Taylor of Hoopeston, Ill.; three grandsons and 12 great grandchildren. Mr. Duncan was formerly employed at Alcoa Aluminum in Lafayette and Interstate Sand and Gravel in Covington , as well as the Covington Street Department. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Sunday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, with the Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Coopers Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.
